Editorial Standards

PPLI.com is an independent educational and research platform covering private placement life insurance and the planning questions that surround it: tax treatment, jurisdictions, policy structure, costs, and succession. This page explains how our content is produced and what readers can expect from it.

What we publish

We publish explanatory guides, technical references, jurisdiction analyses, and market commentary, in seven languages, for wealthy families and the professionals who advise them. We do not publish sponsored content, and no article on this site is paid for by a carrier, fund manager, or intermediary.

How legal and tax statements are sourced

Statements about law and tax are grounded in primary sources: statutes and codes (such as the US Internal Revenue Code), regulations and regulatory circulars, court decisions, and official publications of tax authorities and supervisors. Where an article relies on market data or third-party research, we name the source and its date in the text or in a sources section. Where the law is unsettled or practice varies, we say so rather than manufacture certainty — readers will find hedged language throughout this site, and that is deliberate. Our articles are educational; they are not legal, tax, investment, or insurance advice, and every consequential decision should be verified with qualified advisors in the relevant jurisdictions.

The role of the advisory board

Our advisory board — senior practitioners in insurance structuring, investments, and private banking — provides independent oversight of the platform's editorial standards and regulatory accuracy, consistent with the mandate published on the board's page. Board members are not compensated by carriers for their role here.

Independence

PPLI.com does not sell insurance products, does not manage client assets, does not act as a broker-dealer, and does not represent any insurance carrier, jurisdiction, or financial institution. We receive no commissions. Articles that discuss carriers or jurisdictions describe categories and criteria; they do not recommend providers.

Corrections

Rules change, and despite care, errors can occur. When we learn that something we published is wrong or has been overtaken by events, we correct the article. If you believe you have found an error — a misstated rule, an outdated figure, a broken citation — write to info@ppli.com with the article URL and the issue. Corrections are reviewed and, where warranted, made to the published text.

Questions about these standards can be sent to the same address, or through our contact page.
