Research files and ratings for insurance-dedicated funds and the managers behind them, built from their SEC filings and written for families who use a policy and for their advisers. The database holds the funds that filed a Form D from January 2025 to November 2026 under an insurance-dedicated name or on an insurance-dedicated platform, so funds that file under other names may be missing.
Each fund carries one PPLI.com Fund Rating, from one to five stars, in the Q4 2026 edition. The list shows one row per manager with its highest-rated fund; the manager file lists the rest. 125 further funds are in preparation and join once every part of their rating is documented. The stars rate the controls, record and standing that a fund and its manager report to the SEC. They do not measure returns and do not say that a fund suits a particular policy.
All 171 managers in the database: 97 rated in the Q4 2026 edition, from the strongest file down within each group, and 74 in preparation. A Manager Rating combines the manager's own record and depth with the controls of its rated insurance-dedicated funds. Each name opens the manager file, with its funds and its regulatory record.
Four things that stand out in the Form ADV answers behind these ratings, and that a family or an adviser may want to raise with the insurer before a fund goes into a policy.
For 123 of the 254 funds that appear in a Form ADV, the adviser reports that none of the assets were valued in the last fiscal year by a person outside its group. For 131 it reports that nearly all were. The answer is a filed fact, not a finding about the prices, but it decides whether a fund can reach five stars.
For 111 of the 227 SALI series with control answers, the platform reports that the administrator is related to it. An outside administrator that sends statements to every investor counts for more in the rating.
Their advisers report that the auditor's report for the last fiscal year has not yet been received. These funds are shown as in preparation until the filing changes. Eleven of them first sold interests before 2025, so this is not always a first audit.
Seven Bridges Advisors was sold to Corient in July 2026 and its SEC registration ended on 13 October 2026. The 14 insurance-dedicated series it managed are in preparation until the successor adviser appears in the filings.
Important. The PPLI.com Fund Rating expresses the editorial opinion of PPLI.com on the date shown. It is not a credit rating, not a forecast of returns and not investment advice, nor an offer of any fund or policy. Interests in insurance-dedicated funds are available to the public only through insurance policies. About the rating
