Pecuniary penalty of HK$10,000,000 for AMLO contraventions (ongoing monitoring, enhanced due diligence, record keeping), conduct April 2012 to April 2019

The HKMA's investigation found that DBSHK failed to continuously monitor business relationships, to conduct enhanced due diligence in high-risk situations and to keep records for some customers during various periods between April 2012 and April 2019. The Monetary Authority imposed a pecuniary penalty of HK$10,000,000. The MA took into account remedial actions, the absence of a prior AMLO record and cooperation.

The Monetary Authority (MA) has imposed a pecuniary penalty of HK$10,000,000 against DBSHK for contraventions of the AMLO.

DBSHK took remedial actions and made efforts to improve its AML/CFT controls (as stated by the HKMA).
