Terms of use

The terms on which the India edition of PPLI.com is made available. Updated 20 October 2026. The general terms of the site are at ppli.com/terms-of-use and prevail where the two differ.

1. Acceptance

By reading this website you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use the site.

2. Nature of the website

PPLI.com is a research publisher operated by Talniri Ltd. The India edition publishes general information about how Indian law treats life insurance policies issued by insurers outside India, and related questions of exchange control, tax, disclosure and succession.

3. No professional advice

Nothing on this website is tax, legal, investment, insurance or exchange-control advice, and nothing is advice on any reader’s own position. Written answers to research questions are general information. Take advice from a Chartered Accountant, a FEMA practitioner and a lawyer in each country whose law applies to you before acting.

4. No offer, no solicitation, no registration

PPLI.com is not an insurer, an insurance intermediary or an investment adviser. It is not registered with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India or the Securities and Exchange Board of India, it does not solicit, arrange or recommend insurance in India, and nothing on this website is an offer or invitation to enter into any contract of insurance or investment. A resident of India requires the permission of the Reserve Bank of India to take a life insurance policy from an insurer outside India.

5. Third parties

Where the site names an insurer, a regulator, a firm or a product, it does so as a matter of record. PPLI.com receives no commission from any insurer and does not endorse any named firm. Any engagement with a third party is agreed between you and that party, outside this website.

6. No guarantee of outcomes

Worked examples and calculators illustrate rules with assumed figures. They do not predict returns or tax results. A policy’s benefits, charges, liquidity and tax treatment depend on its terms, the insurer, and your circumstances.

7. Accuracy and changes

We state Indian law as at the date on each page and correct errors when they are reported, but the law changes and the site may be out of date between revisions. We may change or remove content at any time.

8. Intellectual property

The text, calculators and design of this website belong to Talniri Ltd. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link; you may not republish pages, calculators or substantial extracts without written permission.

9. Acceptable use

Do not scrape the site at a rate that burdens it, attempt to access non-public areas, or use the enquiry form to send unsolicited commercial messages.

10. Enquiries and submissions

Enquiries are handled as described in the privacy policy. By sending a correction you allow us to use it to improve the page, without payment.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Talniri Ltd is not liable for loss arising from reliance on this website. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
